Home FAQ's
When do courses start?

You can start any of our courses at any time. Make sure that you plan your studies carefully because once you start a course you need to stick to certain set deadlines for the completion of tests and assignments.

Where do I attend the lectures?

Our courses are conducted online so that in order to attend them all you require is a computer with Internet access. You can start a section of the course on one computer, sign off and then recommence your studies from where you left off at another time, place and on a different computer.

Do I require Internet access at all times in order to study on your system?

Most people studying through our system find it easier to log on, print out their assignments and course reference material and then complete their assignments offline.

Once they have compiled their exercises they go back on to the Internet and submit them. After submissions have been marked the learner will log on again to obtain the tutor's comments and marks.

Learners who have studied with us find their printed course material to be an invaluable source of reference in their day to day work.

If I need help how do I get it?

We have a Tutor Link which enables you to communicate directly with you course tutor.

How long do courses take?

It depends on each course and the amount of time each learner devotes to studying. Our courses are based on nationally registered unit standards, each of which has a credit value. Credit value times 10 equals the number of hours which the average learner is expected to take in acquiring that unit standard.

As a general guideline, people with two years or more of experience in a field related to their course of study should allow two weeks of study for every 4 credits in a unit standard, provided they set aside two hours per day for their studies.
People with less than two years experience in a related field will usually require about twice as much time as this to complete their studies.

What are the costs to train?

For those who wish to study individual courses the cost is R220 per learner per credit plus VAT.

How do I obtain my certificate once the course is complete?

GTT issues a certificate within a short space of time after completion of each course and these certificates are delivered to either the learner or, depending on who is paying for the course, the learner's employer.
Once external moderation has taken place GTT will apply to the Transport SETA for a Statement of Results.

What recognition do these courses have?

GTT courses are (with one exception) based on nationally registered unit standards which are in turn component parts of nationally registered qualifications. Thus by steadily accumulating unit standards over a period it is possible to obtain a national qualification.
From the international point of view the South African Association of Freight Forwarders (SAAFF) has applied to the world freight forwarding industry representative body, the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (IATA) to have certain of these South African freight forwarding qualifications plus a research dissertation recognised for the award of the prestigious FIATA Diploma in Freight Forwarding.

How can I use these courses to further my career?

When you have identified the knowledge and skills which are required for a position to which you wish to be promoted, GTT can very easily assist you and your employer in selecting the unit standards you need to study to gain those competencies. In this way you match your personal career path to your personal study path.
